Online Compostela Requests for the Camino de Santiago – 2022

Online Compostela Requests for the Camino de Santiago – 2022

If you’re walking the Camino de Santiago in the COVID-era, it’s important to know that the Pilgrim’s Office in Santiago de Compostela has implemented a new online application option for the Compostela. Intended to better manage the flow of pilgrims requesting recognition for their journey, the new online Compostela process creates a queue system to both reduce the time pilgrims spend waiting and the to better manage the process to receive your paper documents.

REQUESTING YOUR COMPOSTELA ONLINE – 2022

The Pilgrim’s Office has now implemented an online reservation form that you can fill out up to 3 weeks before you begin your walk to request both the Compostela and/or the Distance Certificate.

Once you submit the form, the new system generates a QR Code (only for office use) and a Group Number. The Pilgrim’s Office will then send you a locator number via email. This locator number will help expedite your Compostela and Distance Certificate when you arrive at the Pilgrim Office.

While this reservation form is OPTIONAL, it is strongly recommended by the Pilgrim’s Office as it will help speed up the certificate request process, reduce queues at the Pilgrim Office, and – in turn – help pilgrims observe both distancing and safety measures required in Spain.

The form is available in multiple languages (although some of the translations are a bit confusing or leave Spanish phrases in place within the menu options).

1. Complete the online Camino de Santigao Compostela request form.

2. Proceed to the Pilgrim Office in Santiago de Compostela (MAP) and collect a QR code showing your place in line.  (IMPORTANT: The ticket machine only gives one ticket per pilgrim. If you’re walking with others, each pilgrim needs a QR code ticket.)

3. Monitor your position in line using your phone.

4. When your time comes, enter the pilgrim office to present your stamped Pilgrim Passport, identificiation, and Group Number from your online application.
